⚙️ 3. How We Use Your Data
We use the data we collect for the following purposes:
- Providing the service – creating and maintaining your account, authenticating you when you log in.
- Improving the product – analyzing usage patterns to fix bugs and build better features.
- Security & fraud prevention – detecting unauthorized access, abuse, or malicious behavior.
- Communications – sending account-related emails (password resets, security alerts). We do not send marketing emails without your explicit opt-in.
- Legal obligations – complying with applicable laws, regulations, or court orders.
- Software updates – checking for and delivering desktop application updates.
We process your data based on: (a) contract performance — to deliver the services you signed up for;
(b) legitimate interest — to secure and improve our product; and (c) legal obligation — where required by law.
🔒 4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secured servers. We implement industry-standard safeguards including:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit between your device and our servers.
- Passwords are hashed using a strong one-way algorithm (bcrypt or equivalent) — we cannot read your password.
- Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel only, on a need-to-know basis.
- Regular security reviews and dependency updates for our software and infrastructure.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account,
we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is
required by law or for fraud prevention purposes.
While we take security seriously, no system is completely immune to breaches. In the event of
a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users promptly and
take immediate remediation steps.
🤝 5. Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share limited
data with trusted third parties only in these circumstances:
-
Service providers – companies that help us operate our infrastructure
(e.g., hosting providers, email delivery). They are contractually required to protect your
data and may not use it for their own purposes.
-
Legal requirements – if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights
and safety of JL Tools or its users.
-
Business transfers – in the unlikely event of a merger, acquisition, or sale
of assets, user data may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify users before
any transfer occurs.
We do not use your data for advertising purposes and do not share it with advertising networks.
🍪 6. Cookies & Tracking
Our website uses cookies — small files stored in your browser — to make the site function
correctly. We use two categories of cookies:
-
Essential cookies – required for the site to work, such as keeping you logged
in and protecting against cross-site request forgery (CSRF). You cannot opt out of these without
losing site functionality.
-
Analytics cookies – used to understand how visitors use our site (e.g., which
pages are visited most). We use privacy-friendly analytics that do not track you across other websites.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. You can control
cookie preferences through your browser settings.
🖥️ 7. Desktop Application & Software
Our desktop software for Windows may collect the following limited information to function correctly:
- Software version number – to check for and deliver updates.
- Anonymous crash reports – if the application encounters an error, a report
may be sent to help us diagnose and fix the problem. These reports contain technical details
about the error but not your personal files or content.
- Windows version & system architecture – for compatibility purposes.
Our software does not:
- Access, scan, or transmit your personal files.
- Record your keystrokes or screen activity.
- Run in the background without your knowledge.
- Install additional software without your consent.
Microsoft SmartScreen & Windows Defender: Our software is published by JL Tools
and is signed with a valid code-signing certificate. If you see a SmartScreen warning, it is because
our application is newly published and building a reputation history with Microsoft. The software
is safe to run. You can verify our publisher identity in the Windows Security dialog.
👶 8. Children's Privacy
JL Tools is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal
information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child
under 13 without verified parental consent, we will delete that information promptly.
If you believe we may have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please
contact us immediately at jorge@lega.tv.
⚖️ 9. Your Rights & Choices
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access – request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction – ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion – request that we delete your account and associated personal data.
- Portability – receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Opt-out of non-essential emails – unsubscribe from any marketing emails at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at
jorge@lega.tv with "Privacy Request" in the subject line.
We will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority if you believe
we have not handled your data appropriately.
